What to know
A Watchlist is a powerful and flexible tool for tracking the companies that matter most to you.
It allows you to create customized lists that can be managed both dynamically (via filters) and manually (by handpicking companies).
How Watchlists Work: Dynamic and Manual Control
Every watchlist combines two powerful methods of list-building:
-
Dynamic Filtering: You can apply a set of filters (e.g., by industry, location, or revenue) to your watchlist.
Our platform will then automatically add new companies to the list as we discover them if they match your criteria
-
Manual Curation: You have the ability to handpick companies to add or remove from the list.
This gives you precise control to refine your list, include key targets from adjacent markets, or exclude irrelevant results
You can use either method on its own or combine them to create the perfect hybrid list for your needs.
How to refine and manage your Watchlist
When you open any watchlist, you will find three main control buttons at the top of the page
Edit filters: Manage the dynamic, criteria-based part of your list
-
Click Edit Filters to see the criteria currently applied (e.g., Global Pet Food companies)
- You can change, add, or remove filters at any time. Any changes will automatically update the list based on the new criteria
Add Companies: Manually pick specific companies with precise control
-
Click Add Companies to open the editor
-
You can search for companies by name or URL and add them directly to your list
- This is perfect when you want to include key players that don't quite match your filters or compare a filtered list against a few handpicked competitors
Remove Companies: Manually exclude specific companies picked up by your filters
- Click Remove Companies to see a list of all manual exclusions
- Alternatively, select one or more companies directly from the Companies tab and click the Remove button
- This is ideal for refining the results of a broad filter, ensuring your list is perfectly tailored to your needs
Key Rules for Managing Your Lists
-
Manually added and removed Companies are Locked In: Once you manually add or remove a company, it will never be overriden by a filter change. It is "locked" in the list, unless you choose to reverse it. This ensures your handpicked selection is always retained
- A full audit trail is kept: The platform logs every company you manually add or remove. You can always review the "Added" and "Removed" sections to see a clear history of the changes made to the list, providing a complete and transparent audit trail
